Two recent rounds of heavy rainfall removed any vestige of drought for most of the KVOE listening area.
Rain totals anywhere from 3-10 inches on July 27 and July 30-31 eliminated abnormally dry conditions for Lyon, Chase and Osage counties as well as most of Coffey County. Moderate drought remains across the southeast quarter of Greenwood County.
Two weeks ago, moderate drought had covered almost all of Lyon County as well as all Greenwood County and most of Chase, Coffey and Osage counties. Last week’s update from the US Drought Monitor, which had abnormally dry conditions for Lyon, Chase, Coffey and north Greenwood counties, reflected heavy rain from July 20.
