Emporia Main Street has, unfortunately, had to remove yet another major event from the 2020 activity calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Main Street Director Casey Woods, the 2020 Great American Market, scheduled to be held Sept. 12, will not be taking place this year. Woods says Main Street received a letter from Lyon County Public Health Monday advising the event not take place given the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases.
Woods says the decision is extremely disappointing, however, they understand and respect it nonetheless.
He says Main Street’s main focus now is in developing new activities that both fall in line with local health guidance and support local businesses who have suffered throughout the pandemic. He says right now it is about providing local businesses with “all the assets that they need.”
Further details on those plans are currently pending. For more information visit Emporiamainstreet.com or call 620-340-6430.
