An important deadline is coming Wednesday for USD 253 Emporia Public School families and students to keep in mind.
Online enrollment concludes Wednesday for the district which has been offering both online and in-person appointment only enrollment this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For any students or families who have yet to enroll online, they must do so before the end of the day Wednesday.
USD 253 Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says any families who have yet to enroll online and are unable to do so before Wednesday’s deadline will need to schedule an appointment at the Flint Hills Learning Center inside Flint Hills Mall to complete the enrollment process. Landgren says there are a number of COVID-19 preventive measures families need to keep in mind before coming the learning center.
Landgren tells KVOE the district noticed a sizeable rise in the number of students enrolling after last Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting where the board officially approved the district’s learning plans for both elementary and secondary education.
Landgren says there will be a remote-only option available for all grade levels as well.
Landgren also wished to inform families that the district’s Grab N Go lunch program concluded Friday after handing out over 70,000 meals to district students. Landgren says once the school year commences in September the program will recommence.
