Work on a significant underground infrastructure project in east Emporia gets started this week.
Construction is beginning on a new 12-inch water line on Peyton Street. The current line will be replaced from US Highway 50, or East Sixth Avenue, to South Avenue.
Work will continue through September, weather permitting. Peyton will be closed except to local traffic, and drivers are told to be cautious in the work zone.
