Despite little to no rainfall occurring over the past 48-hours, flooding continues at one area gauge.
The National Weather Service has extended its river-based flood warning for the Cottonwood River near Emporia until 2 pm Monday. As of 8:30 am Sunday the river was observed at 19.95 feet slightly below the 20 foot flood stage and dropping.
The river is forecasted to continue dropping and should return to its banks by mid-evening Sunday.
The area road closure list has continued expanding overnight due to flooding concerns.
The current list includes
*600 block of Road 160
*800 block of Road 165
*700 and 800 blocks of Road 160
*1400 block of Road J
*1600 block of Road G
*1600 block of Road H
A handful of rural road closures also remain in place in Chase County according to the Chase County Sheriff’s Office.
