The Lyon County Fair is finalizing their plans for this year’s fair, which will consist of 4-H exhibitions only.
Lyon County Fair board member Ken Duft, KVOE’s Newmaker guest Wednesday, says things will definitely be different this year — due to COVID-19. Duft says the are doing their best to limit the number of people present at each event.
Duft says social distancing will be stressed, as well as other health safety protocols. In an effort to allow friends and families to watch the events, he says streaming will take place on the Lyon County Extension Facebook page. KVOE-TV is also planning to provide video coverage of events on August 7, 8, and 9th.
Duft says another major change will be the live-streaming of the 4-H Premium Sale — on Monday, August 10th. Registered buyers can still attend the sale, but no spectators will be permitted, and Lance Fullerton of Great Plains Auction and Real Estate has provided the use of an online auction service. Access the online service by visiting ucgreatplains.hibid.com.
Lyon County 4H-ers have also prepared short video clips, detailing their projects, and those are available on Flipgrid.com. You can find the link — with login credentials — at the Lyon County Fair website: lyoncountyfairks.org.
4-H exhibitions begin this Friday (7/31) with the Hand Pet, Cat, and Dog shows. KVOE will air the first 4-H reports Monday morning during the 6 o’clock hour. More information available at KVOE.com.
