The Kansas State High School Activities Association Executive Board Tuesday voted not to make any changes to the fall activities schedule.
The start date for fall practices are set to begin on August 17th.
Competitions are slated to begin as scheduled.
The Executive Board turned down the recommendation of the KSHSAA staff that included beginning practices as scheduled but delaying the beginning of competitions for football, volleyball and soccer until the week of September 8th by a 4-5 vote. That vote means the orginal schedule would be followed.
Executive Director Bill Faflick said before the vote that it is important to have the students involved, but safely.
Emporia High football Coach Corby Milleson says he is looking forward working with the players.
Emporia High boys soccer Coach Victor Ibarra says there are still to many unknowns.
Executive Director Faflick added that everyone needs to be responsible.
So far 24 states have altered their fall sports schedules including, Texas, California and Florida.
6 states have canceled football for the fall including, New Mexico, California, and Nevada.
28 states have not modified their fall schedules including, Kansas,
Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Colorado.
