A delayed start to the 2020-21 school year could see approval by the USD 253 Board of Education Wednesday evening.
A potential delay will be just one of many talking points as the board reviews the 2020-21 academic calendar and the district’s proposed reopening plan during its regular meeting. The option may be the best available for the district as it continues to wrestle with how best to provide staff with additional preparation time for the school year, while also ensuring the district meets the state’s mandated 1,116-hour requirement for students.
The board is also scheduled to conduct a review of the 2021 fiscal year budget and could approve a notice of hearing publication for the budget.
This will be a hybrid meeting and will take place inside the Mary Herbert Education Center as well as Zoom. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 pm and will be viewable on the district’s website.
