A delayed start for the 2020-21 school year looks likely for USD 251 North Lyon County, the only question is when the new date may be.
Superintendent Bob Blair joined KVOE’s Newsmaker Two segment Tuesday morning to discuss where the district stands in its reopening plans. Blair says recent input from district stakeholders and internal conversations within the district itself have all indicated a general desire for a delayed start to the year.
The USD 251 Board of Education will be holding a special meeting on Thursday to try and answer some of the lingering questions for exactly how the district will proceed forward.
Blair says if the district were to delay it would likely be a “few days later” than the original start date of Aug. 20 rather than after the Labor Day Holiday weekend as Governor Laura Kelly had planned to do. Blair says the district will be offering both in-person and remote online learning to students this year.
Blair says the district is dedicated to providing students with the best learning experience possible.
KVOE’s updates with local school districts continue Wednesday when USD 417 Morris County Superintendent Aaron Dody joins the 8:20 am Newsmaker Two segment. USD 243 Superintendent Cory Reece will round out the series of updates Thursday.
