Two of Emporia’s long-term care facilities are now working through coronavirus clusters that have recently developed.
Holiday Resort Administrator Mike Kerbs confirmed two employees tested positive recently. Both are now in quarantine.
With the help and guidance of Lyon County Public Health, Holiday Resort tested all its staff and residents Thursday. Kerbs expects results by Tuesday.
The Holiday Resort cluster has unfolded while Flint Hills Care and Rehab Center continues dealing with a larger cluster. This past Saturday, Flint Hills Care and Rehab Center announced 18 people, 12 residents and six employees, had contracted COVID-19. One resident later died at a care facility in Merriam. An update on the facility’s current status is pending.
Lyon County Public Health says two long-term care facilities are currently responsible for 17 active cases, 34 total cases and one death. Thursday’s Public Health update also listed one private industry cluster with five active cases, 133 total cases and one death.
