(royals/ap) The Kansas City Royals open the 2020 regular season Friday night at Cleveland.
Danny Duffy will be the starting pitcher for the Royals.
First pitch set for 6:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6pm.
The Kansas City Royals could be on the brink of signing veteran right-handed pitcher Matt Harvey, according to multiple reports.
A source confirmed to MLB.com that Harvey, 31, could be to signed to a Minor League deal, and thus report to the Royals’ satellite camp at T-Bones Park in Kansas City.
Harvey pitched against the Royals in Games 1 and 5 of the 2015 World Series. Harvey pitched in 12 games for the Angels last year and had a 7.09 ERA.
There were 2 MLB games played Thursday night:
The New York Yankees defeated the Washington Nationals 4-1 in a game shortened to 6 innings due to rain.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were 8-1 winners over the San Francisco Giants.
A new wrinkle has been added to the 2020 Major League Baseball season — at the last minute.
Just hours before Thursday’s season opener, the Associated Press reported that MLB and the players union have agreed to expand the postseason field from 10 teams to 16 teams for the 2020 season. MLB’s 60-game regular season will end on September 27. The expanded postseason will begin the following week.
