Traffic was disrupted for close to an hour following a non-injury accident in far west Emporia Tuesday afternoon.
According to Emporia Police Officer Jaffar Agha, a westbound RV with two passengers inside was traveling on West Highway 50 and preparing to turn left into the Flying J parking lot. At the same time, an eastbound semi-truck with a single passenger was traveling through the intersection and collided with a Jeep Rubicon being towed by the RV as it was making its turn.
The accident led to major damage on the Jeep’s passenger side and cosmetic damage to the back of the RV. The semi suffered significant damage to its front end.
Both the Jeep and semi had to be towed from the scene. According to Agha, one of the parties was cited for speeding, however, additional details are not being released at this time.
The names of those involved are not being released, however, Agha says none of them are from the Emporia area. No injuries were reported.
