The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education will have a special meeting Wednesday evening.
The board will have a virtual meeting at 7 pm to discuss school reopening information and benchmarks.
All area districts are holding intensive discussions about reopening in light of coronavirus caseload trends, the Navigating Change 2020 guidance document and Governor Kelly’s plan to pause the opening of the 2020-21 school year until after Labor Day.
USD 251 North Lyon County has announced plans for its Reopening Planning Team to begin meetings Monday to finalize and review survey data recently collected from staff and parents. The goal is to finish a plan by the end of July and have a meeting to take action on the plan once the RPT makes its recommendations.
The USD 243 Lebo-Waverly administrative team began meetings Friday and will continue once the Kansas State Board of Education votes on the governor’s plan to reschedule the start of the academic year.
USD 284 Chase County’s Back-to-School Committee has already sent one survey to parents and is planning another as its process continues. The district has not said when that will be sent out.
At USD 386 Madison-Virgil, the Reopening Committee will develop three different education models and then seek input from families through a series of Community Roundtables (7-8 pm July 20, 7-8 pm July 27, 7-8 pm Aug. 3) to finalize the plan.
USD 417 Morris County has a parent information meeting at 6:30 pm July 28 to review the district’s draft operations guide.
USD 421 Lyndon has confirmed in-person and online options for students. It has a back-to-school survey available for students on its Facebook page.
