With air temperatures in the upper 90s and heat index readings as high as 105 to 108 degrees Saturday, Newman Regional Health emergency room Dr. Aaron Watters urges you to listen to your body if you spend any length of time outside and start feeling unwell.
Watters says not enough people listen to heat-related warning signs and can face serious medical issues as a result.
Watters also says people need to plan for the heat in conditions like this.
A heat advisory continues until 8 pm after temperatures in the mid-90s and a peak heat index reading of 107 in Emporia on Friday.
Conditions may improve slightly Sunday with highs in the low 90s before a decent chance of storms Sunday night into Monday night. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
