Twenty-three nonprofit groups are part of the Emporia Community Foundation’s Match Day 2020.
Director Becky Nurnberg says there are two new groups in the fold: Twin Rivers Junior Shooting Sports and Mount Mitchell Prairie Guards. With the ongoing impact of coronavirus to be determined, Nurnberg says plans are in place to have the traditional setup of both in-person and online giving as well as an online-only event.
Match Day is a one-day event that now includes in-person charitable giving at Flinthills Mall and online giving through the Community Foundation’s website, www.emporiacf.org. Last year’s event generated a record $286,000 for 25 participating groups. Since the event started, over $1.1 million has been raised for 33 area groups.
Once again, Match Day will be bolstered by several funding partners. The list this year includes the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund, Hopkins Foundation, Reeble Foundation, Trusler Foundation, Preston Family Trust and WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust.
Match Day is Nov. 16.
