Hot, sticky air is expected across the KVOE listening area Tuesday, but some places will have it worse than others.
The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories affecting Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood and Osage counties from 1-8 pm. Air temperatures will be in the mid-90s by late afternoon. Heat index readings will be as high as 105-107, and the steamiest air will be southwest of Emporia.
Wednesday’s high will be in the upper 80s, but the heat and humidity return Friday with air temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s and humid conditions returning.
Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for updates. The Weather Service advises you to drink lots of water, wear light and loose-fitting clothing, stay out of the sun if possible and check up on relatives and neighbors.
