The latest restaurant with a national presence opened its doors to customers Friday.
Panda Express, 2830 West 18th, opened its doors for the lunch rush Friday morning. Site work started back in January for what company officials called a free-standing restaurant with a drive-thru option. The restaurant fills property vacated seven years ago when Golden Corral closed its eatery.
Social distancing has changed the original game plan for customers. The drive-thru is open during normal hours, but the normal dine-in space is limited to 10 customers for carryout only with no dine-in until further notice.
Panda Express offers Chinese food in a “fast casual” setting and has over 2,200 locations in the United States. It follows the start of the regional chain Sam’s Southern Eatery last month and the return of Wendy’s last fall.
