Evergy is planning to resume service disconnections for overdue accounts next week.
The date is July 16. Spokesperson Gina Penzig says Evergy has been contacting customers with past due accounts since early June to offer payment arrangements, and Penzig says Evergy has both standard and new options for customers. The new plan offers a four-month payment schedule that offers a $25 credit towards the payment with the first installment and a 50-percent credit up to $75 if customers clear their past due amount by the fourth month. Customers have until Aug. 31 to request this option and they have to call Evergy customer service to get involved.
Evergy still has its 12-month payment plan and has announced it will waive late fees through December. The utility is also directing customers with past due accounts to Project Deserve, which helps Evergy Kansas Central customers with energy blls.
