Despite the event’s cancellation Tuesday, Emporia City Commissioners plan to discuss a lifetime sponsorship agreement with the Dirty Kanza during their upcoming study session Wednesday.
The agreement would see the city “memorialize” a $25,000 commitment to the annual event which was approved during the 2020 appropriations period last year. Per the terms of the agreement, the payment would be due in August and provide the city with specific sponsorship benefits including various types of marketing.
With the event’s cancellation announced early Tuesday for 2020, word on if the city may hold off on discussions is currently pending.
Additionally, commissioners will receive a legislative update on several bills passed by the Kansas Legislature that may impact or be of intrigue to the commission. Additionally a Capital Improvement Plan review of three city departments including water, sewage and solid waste. A review of personnel funds is also on the agenda.
The meeting begins at 10 am inside the municipal courtroom at White Auditorium.
