Emporia’s community calendar continues to thin out and coronavirus is the reason for the latest adjustment.
ABATE District 12 of Kansas has canceled its Spring Fling Bike Show set for Saturday. The event was already rescheduled during the early stages of coronavirus. Organizers took the first available reschedule date at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, hoping the virus trends would have eased by now, but a recent spike caused a change in plans.
A big part of the decision rested with Lyon County’s current mass gathering maximum of 45 people, which organizers say made it impractical to hold the event at this time.
Organizer Deb Fuller is planning to join KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Thursday with additional information.
