One person was taken to Morris County hospital Friday evening following a two-vehicle accident.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, just after 4:30 pm Friday, a westbound 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Mitchell Wecker of Allen was traveling on Us Highway 56 at mile marker 356.7. According to KHP, for unknown reasons Wecker’s pickup crossed left of the center line and struck an eastbound 2011 Dodge Avenger driven by 76-year-old Bonnie Chapman of Wilsey.
The Wecker driven truck came to a rest in a nearby field while the Chapman driven car came to a rest on the highway’s south shoulder. Neither Wecker nor Chapman suffered any apparent injuries, however, a passenger in Chapman’s car identified as 53-year-old Randolph Champman of Coffeyville was taken to Morris County Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
All three individuals involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
