The Emporia Fire Department and Kansas Gas made quick work of a gas leak in central Emporia Wednesday evening.
Crews were called to the 1200 block of West Street shortly before 5:30 pm for a gas leak at a residence. According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller, an individual was excavating in the back yard of a residence at 1225 West when they struck a gas line.
The individual immediately contacted 911 and Kansas Gas who made the necessary repairs. No injuries were reported.
