The busy summer is continuing for Emporia and area golfers.
Three area golfers have qualified for the Kansas Amateur tournament to be played July 20th – 26th at Colbert Hills in Manhattan.
At a qualifier at Manhattan Monday, Colton Massey, Caleb Schmid and Chase Coble qualified.
Gentry Scheve will not have to qualify for the Kansas Amateur he is exempt from qualifying after winning the KJGA stroke play and match play championships last year.
In a Kansas Junior golf tournament, played at Sand Creek at Newton Tuesday, Caleb Schmid tied for 7th place with a 75.
Schmid will be playing in a tournament every day thru next Wednesday.
Wednesday he plays in a tournament at Cypress Ridge in Topeka.
Gentry Scheve, Caden Massey, Brooks Sauder and Hudson Sauder are also entered to play in the tournament at Cypress Ridge.
At a KJGA tournament at Dodge City played Monday and Tuesday Brooks Sauder finished in 7th place overall and in 1st place in the 14-15 year old age group, with a two day total of 157.
Hudson Sauder finished in 3rd place in the 12-13 year old age group, with a two day total of 168.
