Flint Hills Community Health Center staff will now be required to remain home when feeling ill following the FHCHC Board of Directors’ monthly meeting Tuesday.
During the meeting, the board approved the health center’s new Contagious Disease Policy which, according to FHCHC Director Renee Hively, will require staff who are sick to remain home until they recover. Hively says before Tuesday the health center did have policies in place for infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens and other scenarios, however, there was no policy in place for contagious diseases.
Hively feels the institution of the policy may be one of the few positive developments brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
In other business Tuesday, FHCHC Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold reported a net loss of $128,000 for the month of May. Ringgold says May is typically a month where the health center anticipates a net loss as it is deemed a “less productive month,” however, the $128,000 loss came in $70,000 higher than original expectations.
An accounting true-up means to match, reconcile or tie-out two or more balances through an adjustment. According to Ringgold the $60,000 true-up was for an “expense recognition” for the accrual of contract expenses.
Separately, the board also received the monthly CQI and medical and behavioral health clinic reports for the month of May.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will next meet on Tuesday, Jul. 28 at noon inside the health center’s Havenhill Conference Room.
