The $4.3 million Oasis capital campaign continues at the David Traylor Zoo.
The main focal points currently are a new kookaburra exhibit and a renovated waterfowl area. Director Lisa Keith says the waterfowl pond was due for a dredging.
The waterfowl pond work means a temporary change in the main entrance, which is now near the concession stand. The main entrance will return to its original position once the waterfowl pond is renovated over the next six months.
Other major projects are coming, including renovations and expansions for current exhibits, renovations to the Hopkins Family Zoo Education Center and construction of a pavilion near that building, a new walk-through portion of the zoo for public events and construction of a nature play area and a new North American river otter exhibit.
