Minor damage was reported after fire developed inside a small storage room Monday evening.
The fire started at 702 South Exchange shortly before 6 pm. Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says the residents lit a barbecue grill and then put the lighter on a shelf in a back room as they had done a number of times before. For some undetermined reason, it reignited.
Fuller says firefighters saw light smoke when they arrived. The fire was limited to the area around the lighter, while the smoke was limited to the storage room. The rest of the house was unaffected. No injuries were reported.
