Overall, Lyon County Health Officer Renee Hively is pleased with recent tracking metrics for coronavirus.
Hively’s comments on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday came before the active caseload dipped to 29, even with the use of masks and social distancing techniques not at the level she would like to see. Hively says Lyon County is trending in the right direction for going into the next phase of the recovery process, but she urges residents to do all they can so that can happen July 9 as currently planned.
Hively’s comments also come after Lyon County announced its seventh death due to COVID-19.
Public Health did not announce details about the victim, other than to say a Hispanic man in his 50s. However, in his obituary through Roberts-Blue-Barnett, it was announced Gonzalo Peralta had died at age 55 due to coronavirus. Funeral arrangements are pending.
