No serious injuries were reported after two vehicles collided at a major intersection in Emporia Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred just after 2 pm at the intersection of West Sixth Ave. and Woodland Street in front of Wendy’s. According to Emporia Police Officer Todd Ayer, a DZ Cab taxi was traveling south on Woodland and was preparing to turn east onto Sixth Ave.
While negotiating the turn, the driver of the cab failed to see an oncoming westbound Suburban and was struck on the driver’s side door causing moderate damage to both vehicles. The Emporia Fire Department confirms three individuals were examined at the scene but did not require medical transport.
One individual was cited for the accident according to Officer Ayer, however, those details are not being released.
Traffic in the intersection was slowed as crews worked to clear the scene and has since been fully restored.
