The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a bid for a highway construction project just west of Emporia.
KDOT has approved a project for grading, surfacing and bridge work on US Highway 50. The work zone will stretch from Road E-5 to about half-a-mile west of Road G, or Americus Road. This will improve an area that currently has both two-lane and four-lane traffic.
Koss Construction of Topeka won the project with a nearly $7.8 million bid. A construction timetable has not been announced.
