A brush fire that got out of hand required a response from Emporia, Allen Admire and Reading fire crews Saturday afternoon.
Emporia Fire Crews were called to 1408 Road 350 in Allen, roughly 21 miles north of Emporia, as mutual aid for a reported grass fire just after 12:30 pm. According to the Emporia Fire Department individuals on the property were burning a pile of brush when the fire became out of control.
Firefighters say around 10 acres of grass was scorched before crews got the flames under control. The fire was also reportedly near a structure, however, no damage occurred to any buildings or homes.
