An Osage County infant has been identified as the victim of a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian accident which occurred in Melvern Friday evening.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as one-year-old Robin Sowers of Melvern. Sowers was struck by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jenna L Pollard, also of Melvern on private property.
Osage County Deputies, EMS, firefighters and a Lifesave helicopter reported to the scene of the accident just after 5 pm Friday evening. Sowers was taken by EMS to an undisclosed Topeka hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
An investigation is currently ongoing. Further details are pending.

According to a news release on the Osage County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page the Sheriff’s Office received a call for a car/pedestrian accident just after 5 pm on private property in Melvern. Osage County Deputies, EMS, firefighters and a Lifesave helicopter responded to the scene and the pedestrian was taken to an undisclosed Topeka Hospital in critical condition by EMS.
The individual was later pronounced dead. No further information is available at this time as this is an active investigation.
