Sunday is Flag Day, and more American flags than normal will be flying proudly just east of Emporia.
The Emporia Lions Club is marking Flag Day with a chance for local and area residents to fly Old Glory from 10 am to 4 pm Sunday. Club member Gary Post encourages residents to gather on the Road S bridge over Interstate 35.
The Patriot Guard Riders have contributed flags for the event as well. Post encourages people to bring flags if they want as well as sunscreen and a lawn chair. He also says people can stay 10 minutes or the full six hours.
