The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund continues its work so local businesses and nonprofits can do theirs.
Fund organizers announced over $10,000 in grant donations during KVOE’s On-Air Chat on Wednesday. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods made the announcement for business donations.
Also, Skywalkers Gymnastics got $1,750. The Sweet Granada got $1,500. Dynamic Nails and Spa got $1,000 and Precision Safety Technologies got $750.
United Way of the Flint Hills Director Mickey Edwards announced two grants for local nonprofits.
Nearly $12,000 in grants was awarded, and Emporia Community Foundation Director Becky Nurnberg says the fund processed closed to $10,000 in contributions to the fund over the past week, pushing the overall total to around $150,000.
Part of the total for the week involved donations through the White Ribbon campaign honoring workers at Newman Regional Health, and donations continue to come in through the Thank U signs now available for over a month.
