The Lyon County History Center is now open to the public after being closed by coronavirus.
Director Greg Jordan says there will be a new set of operating hours for the time being. Historical Society members and residents with “health vulnerabilities” will be able to attend from 10 am to 2 pm Tuesdays. The general public will have access to the History Center from 10 am to 2 pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Jordan says the public can see more artifacts on display on the second floor, thanks to the recent purchase of new cases after an eye care firm went out of business in both Emporia and Lyndon. This lets the History Center show up to 800 items at a given time instead of around 100.
Jordan also encouraged residents to continue submitting their firsthand stories about the coronavirus pandemic. To do so, email curator@explorelyoncounty.org. More information about the History Center is also available by calling 340-6310.
