(ESU Athletics) Emporia State track and field head coach Steven Blocker has announced this year’s group of field and multi-event signees for the Hornets.
The class consists of eight women, including Council Grove long jumper and hurdler Abigail Good, and five men.
This follows last week’s announcement that six women and six men, including three state champions, would be the 2020 class of sprint and hurdle recruits.

Women
Holly Brockmeier • Throws • Hope HS
Three-time KSHSAA Class 1A state placer in the shot put, twice in the discus and qualified for state in the discus. Also competed in 200m, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 4x100m in her career.
Ashley Cookson • Hurdles/Combined Events • West Elk HS
Three-time KSHSAA Class 2A state qualifier in the 200m and also qualified for state in the 100m, long jump, triple jump and 4x100m relay.
Brooke Flory • Throws • West Franklin HS
Two-time KSHSAA Class 3A state qualifier in the shot put and one time qualifier in the javelin
Abigail Good • Combined Events • Council Grove HS
Two-time KSHSAA Class 3A State qualifier in the 100m and 300m hurdles and qualified for the state meet in the long jump once.
Grace Jacobs • Jumps • Circle HS
Qualified for the KSHSAA Class 4A state championships in the 100m hurdles and high jump. Competed in Shocker Pre-State challenge pentathlon as a junior.
Megan McManis • Pole Vault • KCStaley HS (Missouri)
Qualified for MSHSAA Class 5 state championships in pole vault.

Three-time qualifier for KSHSAA Class 5A state championships in the 4x400m relay and twice in 4x100m relay. Competed in Shocker Pre-State challenge pentathlon as a junior.
Audrey Phelps • Hurdles/Combined Events • Dodge City HS
Three-time KSHSAA Class 6A state qualifier in the 300m hurdles and 4x400m relay, two-time qualifier in the 4x800m relay and also qualified for the 100m hurdles as a junior.

Qualified for KSHSAA Class 3A state championships in the long jump and 4x100m relay.
Josh McLaughlin • Combined Events • Maize HS
Qualified for KSHSAA Class 5A state championships in the 110m hurdles and competed in Shocker Pre-State challenge pentathlon as a junior.
Garrett Meyer • Jumps/Hurdles • El Dorado HS
Scored in the KSHSAA Class 4A Regional in the triple jump.
Rylan Miller • Throws • Shawnee Mission North HS
Qualified for KSHSAA Class 6A state championships in the discus. Will also play football for the Hornets.

Three-time KSHSAA Class 4A State qualifier in the 400m and 4x400m, finishing fourth in the 400m as a sophomore.

Three-time OSSAA Class 6A State qualifier in the 300m hurdles, finishing fourth as a junior.

Two-time KSHSAA Class 6A State Champion in 4x100m relay and three-time qualifier. Also qualified for state in the 100m as a junior.

Qualified for the MSHSAA Class4 State championships in the 4x100m relay as a junior.
David Brown • Sprints • Blue Valley West HS
Was the 2019 KSHSAA Class 6A State Champion in the 400m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. He was a three time state qualifier in the 4x100m relay and two time qualifier in the 400m. He will also play football for the Hornets after earning first-team All-State honors at wide receiver.

Two-time KSHSAA Class 3A state champion in 4x400m relay and also qualified for state in the 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relay.
Jake Johnson • Hurdles • El Dorado HS
Member of KSHSAA Class 5A state qualifying 4x400m relay team and just missed qualifying for state in 300m hurdles as a junior.
