Leaders of multiple city departments will be present during the Emporia City Commission’s study session Wednesday to discuss Capital Improvement requests.
The departments presenting Wednesday include the Emporia Fire Department, Police Department, EMS, Code Services, Administration, Civic Building and the Emporia Public Library. Commissioners will also discuss allocations to the city’s Convention and Tourism fund.
The discussions will center on allocations for three local entities who have yet to receive their full 2020 allocations from the city due to COVID-19. Last month commissioners requested each entity present documentation detailing how they plan to spend the allocated funds to increase tourism and hotel use in Emporia.
In other business, commissioners will continue discussions on Becker Creek, a request for storage at 2910 W. Highway 50, a lifetime sponsorship agreement for the Dirty Kanza, a small cities community development block intake form and an appeal for property at 713 Commercial Street.
The meeting will begin at 10 am inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium. The meeting will be viewable on the city’s Facebook page.
