The Emporia Water Department is closing part of Prairie Street on Wednesday.
The 1600 and 1700 blocks of Prairie will be shut down between 7 am and 4 pm for repairs. Public Works Director Dean Grant says a leak has developed on part of the line that was not replaced after a massive water main break in 2017.
Northbound traffic will be detoured at 15th west two blocks to Luther Street, north to 18th and then back to Prairie. Southbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse.
