Want to use the playground equipment at Emporia’s parks? No problem.
Following Lyon County’s decision to jump to a modified Phase 3 coronavirus recovery plan, city officials have reopened all playground equipment for city parks effective immediately. Shelter houses, picnic areas and restrooms are also included in this decision. Signs are up to remind residents about individual responsibility to limit exposure to COVID-19.
Parks had been open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, but equipment had been off limits.
A decision on opening the splash pad at Peter Pan Park is coming early next week. The city parks department is fine-tuning the underground system before opening that facility to the public.
