After a recent spike, Lyon County has seen another dip in the number of active coronavirus cases.
Active cases spiked last weekend from 42 Friday to 78 Monday but have fallen to 58 in Thursday’s report.
That trend is also noted in Emporia’s business sector, as Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern mentioned on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday.

Not all the trend lines are moving in the right direction. Millbern mentioned three recent deaths that pushed Lyon County’s total to six — after holding steady for over a month — as one of the reasons Public Health officials remain concerned about the spread of coronavirus.
The modified Phase 3 plan restricts mass gatherings to 45 or less. It allows all businesses to be open if social distancing guidelines are met, but large community buildings remain closed and fairs, festivals and carnivals cannot take place yet.
