Voluntary group workouts can start next week as the NHL moves closer to a playoff push.
The NHL says teams can reopen facilities as soon as Monday and players can start limited workouts. Health and safety protocols haven’t been finalized.
The NHL has announced plans to skip the rest of the regular season and go straight to an expanded 24-team playoff format in two host cities if the coronavirus situation has eased. However, a ninth player has been announced with the virus. That player has not been named, but the Pittsburgh Penguins have said that player is on the team’s roster.
