A Butler County man was taken to Emporia for medical treatment after a wreck in Chase County on Wednesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Jacob Jergensen of Augusta crashed around 2:30 pm while traveling on the Kansas Turnpike, and troopers say medical issues may have played a role in the crash. Jergensen was southbound on the Turnpike and driving through a construction zone when he apparently suffered from heat exhaustion. He then crashed through a barricade, with his car coming to rest on top of a temporary barrier wall about four miles northeast of the Matfield Green service area.
Jergensen was taken to Newman Regional Health for suspected minor injuries.
