The Kansas Legislature’s special session begins Wednesday.
Governor Laura Kelly called for the special session late last month after vetoing House Bill 2054, which was designed to update state of disaster emergency policies, notably how they can be extended or rescinded. The governor said the changes will cause more problems than they solve by limiting how disasters are declared. Republicans say the changes streamline the declaration process.
KVOE News will be in contact with lawmakers representing Lyon County throughout the special session.
