Major League Soccer has reportedly extended its deadline for reaching a deal on its collective bargaining agreement.
Originally, MLS had said noon Tuesday was the deadline before locking out players. ESPN now says that deadline is noon Wednesday as the league revises its offer to players.
Both sides are at odds over potential salary cuts — 8.75 percent as offered by owners, 7.5 percent from players. Both sides are also struggling to reach agreement over a clause that would allow either side to back out of a CBA in case of a pandemic. ESPN says the league wants the right to cite the clause if at least five teams suffer a year-to-year attendance drop of 25 percent or more. The union proposal does not include that option.
