A long-time funeral director of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home has passed away.
Steven Hart passed away Friday while at his son’s home in Cottonwood Falls at the age of 60. Hart was born in 1959 in Lyons, Ks and began his career at Roberts Blue-Barnett in 1978 as a night attendant according to long-time partner Willy Pike.
Hart then attended mortuary school and returned to Roberts-Blue-Barnett where he served as a funeral director and embalmer since 1983. Pike remembers Hart as a “guide” for all of the families who came to Roberts Blue-Barnett in their time of need.
Pike also referred to Hart as “entertaining” saying, “you never knew what was going to happen.”
Hart is survived by his wife of 33-years Diana Sue Hart, three sons, five grandchildren, a brother and his sister. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be announced at a later time.
Memorial contributions can be made out to the Emporia Arts Council or Emporia Friends of the Zoo in care of the funeral home.
