The Legislative Post Audit Committee plans to investigate the Kansas Department of Labor’s response to coronavirus, notably with jobless benefits.
The Post Audit Committee will have a two-phase audit. There will be a limited-scope survey focusing on feedback from Labor Department workers. A broad-scope investigation into contributing factors, action steps and potential federal resources or oversight of the department.
Both phases will begin simultaneously.
The audit was approved with the Department of Labor struggling to handle and process hundreds of thousands of contacts per day, whether through phone or website. Results could be available by December.
