Emporia Police are still investigating Tuesday’s injury crash in east-central Emporia.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says 47-year-old Robert Ruiz was driving a car southbound on East Street. The early investigation indicates Ruiz possibly ran the stop sign at Ninth and hit a westbound SUV driven by 34-year-old Amanda Pope.
Both vehicles had two juvenile occupants. All involved in the crash went to Newman Regional Health afterward. Emporia Fire says one child in the car was going to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City after initial treatment locally.
A decision on legal action is pending in this case.
