Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Emporia carried on with the annual Memorial Day service.
Local veterans partnered with KVOE to record the ceremony at the All Veterans Memorial last week and air it on KVOE and KVOE-TV at KVOE.com on the holiday. The service included most of the traditional activities, including prayers, a 21-gun salute and Taps.
There was also a poetry reading, a brief history of the holiday and a memorial roll call honoring the names of veterans who died over the last 12 months.
