Frontline workers battling coronavirus got a rousing thank-you in two different ways Tuesday.
The Kansas Air National Guard 190th Refueling Wing had a flyover featuring a KC-135 tanker over downtown Emporia and Newman Regional Health, which had a parade for hospital staff, law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical service personnel at the same time. McKenzie Cinelli, the business development manager at Newman Regional Health, says it was a happy coincidence the two events overlapped. She tells KVOE News
Emporia Fire Chief Jack Taylor credited the work of all involved to battle COVID-19.
Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope says this isn’t a level of support that is seen often in the line of service.
Emporia Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says this event is not only about supporting our healthcare workers but coming together as a community.
