The National Weather Service says at least three tornadoes touched down in the KVOE listening area the night of May 14.
The Weather Service says there were two touchdowns in far northwest Lyon County, with both twisters touching down north and west of Bushong. Another tornado, believed to be the longest-tracked, developed eight miles south of Council Grove and dissipated shortly before reaching the town’s southern city limits.
A fourth tornado touched down in Wabaunsee County east-northeast of Alta Vista.
The Weather Service says all the twisters were brief and caused no reported damage after surveys by local officials and storm chaser accounts. All the twisters have been given a rating of EF-U given the lack of damage.
The tornadoes, which accompanied large hail and flooding rainfall, were the first four twisters of the 2020 severe weather season in Kansas.
