The Emporia Recreation Commission meets Monday evening, in part to discuss its path forward as the state continues recovering from the coronavirus pandemic.
Part of the agenda deals with staff recommendations for reopening recreation facilities. Another part deals with possibly approving the Recreation Commission’s tentative recovery plan, which would involve full-time staff returning to work with modified schedules this week and front office hours and limited fitness room hours beginning next week under the first phase.
The second phase would tentatively start June 1 with open indoor pool for lap swim — with restrictions — and the prospect for expanded hours. The fitness room will only accept members during Phase One and Phase Two.
In the third phase, tentatively set for June 15, racquetball courts, the walking track and gymnasium would open with restrictions.
The fourth phase, set for June 29, would see new memberships accepted for the first time, as well as adjustments to the Lee Beran Recreation Center schedule and the resumption of swim classes, fitness classes and table tennis.
Facility rentals will be discontinued through the summer. The viewing room will also be closed until further notice and the Cabin Fever program will not resume this summer.
The meeting starts at 5:30 pm and will be held on Zoom and the Rec Commission’s Facebook page.
